Janet Fett, OD
Optometrist
Dr. Janet Fett earned her undergraduate degree from Minnesota State University, Mankato, and worked as a microbiologist. She then went on to earn her Doctor of Optometry and a Master’s in Physiological Optics from The Ohio State University, combining her passion for science with expert eye care.
After graduating, she completed an ocular disease residency at the Omaha Eye Institute. In 1989, she joined Dr. David Kincaid in South Sioux City. Dr. Fett grew up in the Sioux Falls area.
Dr. Fett has served for many years on the Boys and Girls Home of Nebraska Board and the Health Care Advisory Board for the Siouxland Family Center. She is a lifelong member of the Nebraska Optometric Association and has served as its president as well as a board and committee member.
Dr. Fett has received several honors, including the 1991 Young OD of the Year, 2001 Optometrist of the Year, 1996 Optomist of the Year, and the South Sioux City Volunteer Award in 2008 for her work with the Special Olympics. For several years, she has participated in the Special Olympics Opening Eyes program, providing athletes with vision screenings and basic eyewear. In 2010, she was among 140 volunteers at the Special Olympics National Games at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
Dr. Fett lives in South Sioux City with her daughters, Katie and Sara, who keep her busy. They love escaping together when they can, especially to Spearfish Canyon in South Dakota. Dr. Fett is also her family’s historian, tracing her roots back to Europe and connecting with relatives from around the world. In her downtime, she enjoys reading.
